Session 1

 

·         Windows 98 introduction

·         Introduction to Microsoft Office Pro

Assignment #1

1.      Work through the textbook material pages 1-19.

2.      Answer questions 1-28 from pages 20-21 on a separate sheet of paper (number 1-28 and write answer).

3.      Work through the textbook material pages 25-44.

4.      Use Windows Help system to learn about a “virtual private network’ (VPN). Write a brief non-technical paragraph about what you learned.

·         Answer questions and highlight concepts from Windows 98 Unit A.

·         Answer questions and cover key concepts from Windows 98 Unit B and explain assignment.

·         Help anyone who does not have an email account to sign up for a free account with Hotmail or Yahoo.

·         Introduce Microsoft Office 2000.

·     Introduce Microsoft Word

o        Pgs.  73–79 doing as much as we can in class.

·         Participation Note: During each computer class time a student can earn 10 points for participation. The 30 points for participation will account for 1 of the 5 class assignments.

Session 3

Assignment #2

1.      Answer questions 6-21 on pages 44-45 on a separate sheet of paper (number 6-21 and write answer).

2.      Work through any material on pgs. 73–79 in the text that we do not do in class.

3.      Work through the material in the text pgs. 80-113.

4.      Do practice assignment #4 on p. 119 of the text. Please print the assignment and turn it in with the questions from p. 44-45. (Remember to put your name somewhere on the document.)

·         Answer questions from any of the homework due this class session.

·         Introduce the internet and do a worksheet in class.

·         Work in teams to do the work in the text on pgs. 290–305.

 

·         NOTE: What is meant by “work through material” in the text? If the material is quite new to you, then you should actually work through the material doing each of the steps. If most of the material is review, then you may read over it only stopping to do steps that are less familiar. In either case, you should use the “Concepts Review” at the end of each chapter to be certain you are absorbing the material.

·         Remember that your participation in class counts for one 30-point assignment.

Session 5

Assignment #3

1.      Finish working through any of the material on pgs. 290-305 that we did not get covered in class.

2.      Do the skills review on pgs. 308–309. Save the PowerPoint presentation and email it to the instructor as an attachment by the beginning of class tonight.

3.      Work through the material in the text pgs. 145-161. Be prepared to do skills practice in class.

·         Answer questions over any of the homework due this session.

·         Highlight key concepts related to Microsoft Excel

·         Do Internet Worksheet

·         Look at some of the Microsoft Excel templates together.

·         Get approval of project for final

·         50 points of the final will be 25 questions from the units covered in the textbook. The other 50 points will be a project that you do in either Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint or Microsoft Excel. The goal is for this project to be “real”—either a project for a class or a project for work. It needs to be emailed to the instructor by due date.
