Project for Final in MATH1306 Introduction to Math and Computers:

The goal of this project is to use your Microsoft Office skills in a practical way. You can do a project of your own design in your choice of Word, PowerPoint or Excel. It will be worth 50 points. Here are the conditions your project must meet:

If you choose to use Word, it must:

  1. Be at least 4 pages long in MLA format (included documented sources).
  2. Include 1+ graphics inserted into the document.
  3. Use 2 fonts and 2 font sizes.
  4. It must include a table with at least 9 cells in it.

If you have a project at work, at church or in another class that can meet these criteria, that would be great.

If you choose to use PowerPoint, it must:

  1. Include at least 12 slides.
  2. Include a background.
  3. Be a single continuous presentation.
  4. Include at least 5 graphic objects including:
    1. A shape/object you draw using PowerPoint graphic tools.
    2. Clipart that you import into the slide.
    3. A table with at least 9 cells.

Once again, a project for work, church or another class is acceptable. You might put together a presentation for church that includes announcements and the word to songs.

If you choose to use Excel, it must:

  1. Include at least 60 cells.
  2. Include cells formatted for words, numbers and currency.
  3. Include at least 2 formulas using 3 different mathematical functions (+, –, x, /)
  4. Include at least 1 cell that changes depending on the contents of another cell.

A good example of this would be an expense sheet which figured your mileage at $0.33 per mile and added up your total expenses. Then you could have it subtract your expenses from a total expense allowance to see if you were within your expense account.
