- If you were going to do this fast again, what would you do differently--if anything?
- If you were encouraging another person to do a fast of this type and purpose, what benefits would you describe to convince them to try it?
- Do you believe it would be good for you to do a fast with this purpose on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.)? Or, would you describe this fast as one to do "as needed"? Why or Why not?

- Spritual Disciplines Journal: Week 6 -- Due July 2, 11:55 p.m.
You will not need to fast this week unless you have already committed to a regular fast. This will be your capstone journal on fasting. You will want to save this journal for your portfolio, which will come into play later in your DCC career.
Reflect on the past six weeks of fasting experiences by writing your response to these prompts:
- You should have experienced fasts with three different purposes. Was there an overlap between the three? What did you do differently for the different purposed fasts? Compare and contrast the three purposes as you experienced them.
- Did you discover a fast that you might choose to do regularly? If so, explain your thoughts and outline a plan for regular fasting. If not, do you think it would be worth trying a fast with another purpose to discover whether fasting should be a regular part of your spiritual disciplines? Explain.
- Does the idea of an "as needed" fast (such as in Esther) strike you as something we should do more often? Explain.
- What did you like about fasting? What did you dislike about fasting?
- Share any other reflections from this experience.
- Final Essay -- Due July 2, 11:55 p.m.
This paper should be properly documented and formatted to MLA standards. Include a header that lists your name, the course number and name, your instructor's name, and the date you submit the assignment or a description of the assignment (i.e., Final Exam Essays). Use 1 inch margins all around. Double space, and use 12 pt font.
- Write a two to three (2-3) page essay on the significance of the book of Exodus within the Old Testament. You will want to include discussion of the book's key people, key events, and themes and also note the significance of the book for the New Testament. A way of forming the answer to this question would be to ask yourself, "What would we be missing from the Bible if we did not have Exodus? What in Exodus helps us understand other parts of the Old Testament (or the Bible)?"
- Write a one to two (1-2) page essay on the significance of the book of Isaiah within the Old Testament. You will want to include discussion of the book's key people, key events, and themes as well as noting their significance of the book for the New Testament. A way of forming the answer to this question would be to also ask yourself, "What would we be missing from the Bible if we did not have Isaiah? What in Isaiah helps us understand other parts of the Old Testament (or the Bible)?"
- Using as background Genesis 1-3, Genesis 12, Exodus 19-20, 2 Samuel 7, and your readings in Isaiah as a focus, summarize in two to three (2-3) pages the major strokes in the plan of God for humanity that is painted in the Old Testament. Here is a word bank you may want to use: blood, rebellion, sacrifice, promise, covenant.
- Write a one to two (1-2) page essay how this course and/or the subject matter studied during this course has helped educate and prepare you to be a person of influence, under God's influence, for a life of influence.
